Greyhound racing in Launceston on 21 June was not only a night for the Tasmanian Derby and Oaks heats but a cause worth racing for, with Speak Up! Stay ChatTY charity joining forces to raise money across the 10-race program.

The incredible work Speak Up! Stay ChatTY do is managed and overseen by Relationships Australia and the cause was started in 2013 by Mitch McPherson (pictured on the far right) after the loss of his brother Ty to suicide.

With the organizational efforts headed by Ms. Trudy Williams and executive members of the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club committee, plenty of fund raising activities were in play on the night with a total of $7,500 raised.

Among the fundraising efforts on the evening, local trainers such as Anthony Bullock, Blake Pursell and Nick Howard supported the cause by wearing shorts when parading their dogs to the starting boxes throughout the night.

For every greyhound that won wearing the number four coloured rug on the night, the club committed $500.

Tasracing matched the No. 4 runner appeal thankfully Action Plus, for trainer Pat Ryan, was successful in the last race.
